Koninklijke Harmonie van Peer vzw.
The Royal Concert Band of Peer is one of the largest and most successful music societies in Belgium. Since the seventies we have grown from a small, local wind band, to an organization that houses 3 concert bands.
The main orchestra has meanwhile developed an international recognition and belongs to a select group of top wind music bands in the world. The successful 2008 China concert tour - on invitation of the Chinese authorities - several Belgian championship titles and a 5th place in the concert division of the World Music Contest in Kerkrade illustrate the world ranking of our main orchestra.
Musicians for the main orchestra are mainly recruited from our second orchestra, the youth orchestra. Also the youth orchestra has entered the international scene and became vice World Champion in third division of the “World Music Contest” in Kerkrade. Also on the internationally famous scene of the “European Music Festival for Young People” the youth orchestra has won several prices, the last one being “a First price Cum Laude” in 2009.

The foundation for these successes is already laid in the regional music academy, with whom we have an excellent cooperation, and our third orchestra, the mini youth orchestra. Children that only recently started their lessons on an instrument come together to learn to play together ‘in harmony’. A sometimes difficult, yet exciting start of their journey in the world of wind band music.
A final, yet very important group of people in our society are the hard working board of governors and a fantastic group of other volunteers spending their free time in function of our society. Together with the 110 musicians of the main orchestra, 100 musicians in the youth orchestra and the 50 pupils in the mini youth orchestra the board and other volunteers are part of an enthusiastic team that brings music into theirs and your heart.
